Minimal model of drag in one-dimensional crystals

چکیده
Using a nonperturbative classical approach, we study the dynamics of mobile particle interacting with an infinite one-dimensional (1D) chain harmonic oscillators. This minimal system is effective model for many 1D transport phenomena, such as molecular motion in nanotubes and ionic conduction through solid-state materials. As expected, coupling between induces dissipation particle's energy. However, both numerical analytic results demonstrate unconventional nonmonotonic dependence drag on speed. In addition, when this subjected to constant bias, it supports multiple steady-state drift velocities.

Phase Properties of One-Dimensional Quaternary Photonic Crystals
In this paper, properties of reflection phase in one-dimensional quaternary photonic crystals combining dispersive meta-materials and positive index materials are investigated by transfer matrix method. Two omnidirectional band gaps are located in the band structure of considered structure. However, we limit our studies to the frequency range of the second wide band gap. We observe that the val...
متن کاملEnhancement of the Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in One- Dimensional Magnetophotonic Crystals with Adjustable Spatial Configuration
We studied magnetophotonic crystals (MPCs) with introduced magneticdefect layer sandwiched between magnetic and dielectric Bragg mirrors. Thesemagnetophotonic crystals have excellent capabilities to enhance reflection and Kerrrotation simultaneously. By adjusting spatial configuration such as repetition numbersof Bragg mirrors and thickness of magnetic defect layer, we a...
متن کاملDefect modes in one-dimensional granular crystals.
We study the vibrational spectra of one-dimensional statically compressed granular crystals (arrays of elastic particles in contact) containing light-mass defects. We focus on the prototypical settings of one or two spherical defects (particles of smaller radii) interspersed in a chain of larger uniform spherical particles. We present a systematic measurement, using continuous noise, of the nea...
متن کاملNanoparticle-based one-dimensional photonic crystals.
Herein we present a fast, reliable method for building nanoparticle-based 1D photonic crystals in which a periodic modulation of the refractive index is built by alternating different types of nanoparticles and by controlling the level of porosity of each layer. The versatility of the method is further confirmed by building up optically doped photonic crystals in which the opening of transmissi...
